Do we need another API abstraction layer?

pjsip and pjmedia are designed from the ground up as a framework. That’s why great care is taken on abstraction and layering which resulted in a modular component architecture. So it is with interest we notice that OpenKODE offers an open alternative to DirectX. We’ll need some time to digest the actual offering, but it feels like, for pjmedia at least, it adds even more abstraction, therefore complication integration and porting.

What do you think? Is anybody out there considering OpenKODE?
